Newsstand Pickup: Instyle Australia Nov 2013 FT free $89 worth of Napoleon Perdis Make Up Kit Review

Heya!!!!

So i was at Coles the other day and while browsing along the Magazine section and stumble upon this...

So In style magazine Australia is giving away 3 full size Nepoleon Perdis Make Up with the November 2013 Issue (the one with Drew Barrymore featured on the cover) which here in Australia i notice they give out this goodies every now and then but lately non have really caught my eye to buy the magazine until now.

So apart from the Magazine, it comes with a mascara, lip gloss and a cream blush which for $12.95 its a steal deal here in Australia having that make up is pretty pricy. In fact napoleon perdis is quiet a high end brand here with the price around the same as MAC.

 Mascara
So the first thing it comes with is a Mascara which is the only thing that has a name on it which is the "Lashes to Lashes Black Mascara". The packaging is a nice square sleek black tube. I can't say much as i have not use it and in fact have yet to open it as i have a lot of mascara to go trough so I'll let you guys know in future how this mascara works out for me.

Lip Gloss

This i have tried, used and love it! Its a peachy pinky nude color which i love. I have wore this a couple of times and have in fact used this yesterday over Revlon lip butter in Creaminess which makes a great combo wit the peachy nude lip butter... stick??? idk.. haha

The packaging is this hexagon shape tube with a gold cap which gives it a luxurious look and the applicator is the usual  'doe foot' applicator. The formula is creamy, yet sticky but pigmented and i love how the gloss feels on my lips. Also idk if its me but it has a fruity sweet but slight vanilla scent to it... idk maybe its my nose but it has a nice sweet scent.

This i'll recommend for that perfect nude lips. Of the three this is my favorite product.

Cream Blush

Once again this has no name (but i know its made in the USA). This cream blush comes in a cute plastic transparent compact. I was pleasantly surprise that it came with a mirror. The blush is a nice dusty pinky shade that will be nice for this coming spring/summer season. I once again have yet to use or watch the blush so i can't comment much about the formula.

Overall

I love buying magazines and InStyle is a magazine that i have been reading for years but usually I'll go for the US editions as that's what my mum has been buying for years. I especially love when magazines include great freebie with purchase with their magazines.

The quality of the products is fairly good considering it is "free" when you purchase the magazine.
I'll at lease use two of the three products in this set which is the cream blush and lip gloss. The mascara I'll either keep for future use or give it away I have A LOT of mascara to use.

I'll definitely recommend if you are a make up junky, want to try Napoleon Perdis make up (which i have never tried before) or want to expand your make up collection (like me), run out and get this magazine and of cause get the freebie! Its a great value for money and if you are starting with make up, there are some great products to start with in this set.

Also i have flip trough the Magazine and found some great articles so if you love Fashion and beauty magazine this is definitely a great deal!

For more info on the products, check out InStyle's site.

What do you think of the set??? Have you picked it up???

Have you tried Napoleon Perdis make up before?? let me know what do you think.

Review: Essence Me & My Ice Cream Trend Edition

Heya!!

Make Up + Ice Cream = Happy Me !!!  xD

So yay Essence released a new limited edition collection that i am a bit late on the band wagon but thank goodness i manage to snatch the last of the lot of this collection (that was not touch, open, tested .. yah that's the only down side of Essence products.. itchy hands!! >.<") and although i didn't get all that i wanted (i really wanted that cream blush!!!) I am still quiet happy with the stuff that i picked up!

Shimmer Pearls ~01 I-CY U $5.75

Description :

"shimmering scoops of ice cream… the softly shimmering pearls with a light color dispersion are perfectly aligned with the pastel shades of this trend edition. they give your face and neckline a subtle glow and can even cover-up fine imperfections as well as slight redness thanks to the different nuances. available in
01 i-cy u."

Thoughts

This shimmering pearl was what i was looking forward to the most!

Was really lucky that i got one of the last ones at my priceline!
This is an illuminating powder that has purple, yellow, green and peach pastel shimmer pearls that is to look like ice cram dipping dots (had to google search the name but i remember seeing the ice cream in a macbarbie07 video a long time ago).

Its really shimmery and can be used all over the face or as a highlighter.

Basically this is to be a drugstore dupe of Guerlain's Meteorites which I've seen but never owned.

I think i got this mainly because of the cute packaging... yah i am a sucker for cute packaging :P

Not so sure if I'll get alot of use out of this as I am not that big of a fan of highlighter illuminating powder (and i advice if you have oily skin stay away from this)  but if you are a make up junky (like me ;p) this is something that is worth to have in your collection as something cute to display and own.

 Lip Balm ~ $3.50
From left to right  03 Ben & Cherries, 02 icylicious and 01 ice, ice baby

Description :

"let’s twist! these unique lip balms are available in three different color combinations: lavender-vanilla, apricot-beige and pink-mint. the colors blend perfectly upon application and look really cute, too! they pamper your lips with shea butter and jojoba oil as well as leaving behind a delicious fragrance. available in 01 ice, ice baby, 02 icylicious and 03 ben & cherries."

The lip balms were a bit of a hit and a miss for me. I was hopping they will have a hint of color like the Kiss Care Love Lip Balm that Essence has however this gives no color on the lips so this is just a regular lip balm not a tinted lip balm.

The formula compare to to the kiss care love lip balm is alot creamier and smoother.

I like that the packaging is better than the Kiss Care Love lip balms as those were really hard to twist up! In fact mine broke so i cant really use the lip balm anymore.

Each of the lip balm has a "candy cane" swirl with a slight sweet flavor.

If you always want the Maybelline baby lips from USA/CANADA, this is a "close" dupe to it.

Its not very moisturizing ... just an ok lip balm.

From left to right  03 Ben & Cherries, 02 icylicious and 01 ice, ice baby

01 ice, ice baby

The swirl of the packaging is purple and yellow. The color reminds me of ice cream "potong" which is ice cream blocks that i can usually get back in Malaysian Yam and Corn flavor ( yes I know ... very weird flavor but its a delicacy back home).

The Scent has this very artificial grape smell. I actually love the scent! It brings back memory of one of my favorite Mat Kool ice cream that was this grape ice pop back home that I'll get after school!

hehe random but ever heard of the song "ice ice baby" by vanilla ice?? that's what i thought of when i first heard of this!  (and then i thought of glee S1 when they perform this in the library in the episode "bad reputation" .... and the glee project where they performed this and got slushied :P )

02 icylicious

The swirls is this creamy white and peach color. The scent is very creamy vanilla. I kinda think of a milk shake when i see this.

03 Ben & Cherries

Firstly does anyone think of Ben & Jerry ice cream when they saw the name??? I thought of it :P

Anyway the swirls are pink and green. The scent ... for a very odd reason was very floral like... yah that's what i smell of :P

Overview

I didnt get much from this collection as i was a little late or i already have something very similar in my collection. The shimmer pearls were really unique and something I can see in my collection hence why i got it. As for the lip balms ... well i go trough them really fast so why not.

The packaging and theme is a really fun spring ideal! It kinda reminds me of something I can see in Etute house.

Other than that if you love essence and ice cream (me love ice cream!!!) you should check out this collection (and run to your nearest priceline while its still there!)

Did you get anything from the collection? if so what did you get???

What's your favorite ice cream flavor?? ( mines green tea and chocolate!!!)

Till next time

Review: Nivea Lip Butter

Heya!!!

So I just got back from Target and i just have to blog about this as I found the Nevia Lip Butter!!

After watching a bazillion youtubers and bloggers raving about this i had to go out and get them!

So i got it in Carmel cream (left) and Vanilla & Macadamia (right)

Vanilla& Macadamia

Ok so i got the last pot of Vanilla & Macadamia (talk about destiny :P) at my Target and the moment i got out of Target i opened it and applied it on my lips!!

It smells amazing!!!! its has this yummy nutty vanilla smell that oddly reminds me of Famous Amos Cookies!!

If this sounds odd but i also think it smells of white chocolate as well!!

Lip Butter in Caramel Cream

This does not smell sickening sweet (which is good as i cant stand super sweet scent).

Like the name it smells like warm caramel and cream (nuf said)!!

PROS:

~ Very Moisturising
~ nice yummy scent (DON'T EAT THE TIN!! LOLZ)
~ Affordable (almost same price as in the USA & Nivea always goes on Sale!)

CONS:
~ No taste
~ Need more flavours!!! (raspberry please come to Australia!! )

The Product:
Its like a buttery lip balm.

I love the smells especially the Vanilla & Macadamia one!

Its a good heavy moisturizer for the night to apply just before you go to bed and wake up with nice sofe lips!

The Tins remind me a bit of the Roes Bud Salve lip balms (which i own) but thinner, and the balm is more of a buttery moistening feelin.

It is has no color (not tinted)

Melts and moisturize the lips.

A clear balm.

 Overall:

Firstly i am now having a philosophy where if anything has the word "lip butter" it flys off the shelves!!

Its true to its name as it feels buttery on my lips. I can't stop raving about the scent of this ! Smells
Heavenly yummy! It apply very creamy on the lips.

Other than that i have to say that it comes out at the right time as its Autumn heading into winter now here in Australia as well as i have hit pan on a few of my lip balms (R.I.P Maybelline Baby Lips)!

Will definately be using this alot over the coming cold season!

Price: $5.69 ( Its not highly overprice like alot of things in Australia)
but i got mine on offer at Target for $3.57

Where to get: Priceline, Target, selected places that sells Nivea.

What do you think of the Nivea lip butters??

Make Up Review: Benefit Passport to Posh Kit

My First Benefit Purchase!!!

Heya!!

So the other day I was at Myers and as I browse trough the make up counters I saw the Benefit counter having a clearance sales for their Passport to Posh kit.

Now I never own anything from Benefit but I have heard a lot of rave review on blogs and YouTube on the company so I walk up to girl at the counter and the next thing I know I was given a master class about the products!

What sold me on getting the kit was the concealer (which i never own one) and cream eyeshadow!

Is also comes with "instructions" on how to apply the products

And here is the content!

It comes with a deluxe sample of Bad Gal Lash Mascara, 3 powder eyeshadow, a double ended eyeshadow brush, a concealer brush, a ceaseless eyeshadow, a concealer and an eye bright.

The creaseless eyeshadow in R.S.V.P.
I dont own many cream eyeshadow nor do I have any in this color so it was nice to try this. I heart alot of good reviews about their ceaseless eyeshadow so it was nice to get one of them in the kit.

Its easy to apply and its great as a base or just wear all over the lids as it is.

Its a neutral pinky champagne gold color. Good for everyday ware if you just want to sweep a bit of something on the eyes with a bit of liner and mascara and you are good to go.

It last long too! I wore it the whole day and it does not crease!

Powder eyeshadows

Three powder eyeshadow, a highlight which is a matte white, a pinky champagne gold for all over the lids (the powder version of the ceaseless eyeshadow included in this kit) and a matte dark brown for the crease or to make a smoke brown look.

Very good pigmentation (it better be as Benefit is not Cheap! lolz). Its nice for an everyday neutral look.

Concealer and eye bright

A part from  the cream eyeshadow i wanted the concealer as i have been needing one badly as i have no concealer and luckily this concealer was in my shade!

The concealer was easy to use and conceal any imperfections like under eyes dark circles, redness and the occasional pimple. The girl at Benefit advise me to use a brush to apply the product on my face (dont worry the kit includes brushes) and use my fingers to blend it out.

The eye bright i saw at the counter was originally in a pencil form! now why they gave us in a pot form i don't know but all i know is this works really nice of applied a in the inner corners to brighten up the eyes which is more natural than the usual white eyeshadow.

Overall:

For someone who never tried Benefit in general this kit is great to start with on getting familiar with the company's products. It's also great for Beginners as it all neutral shades so its good for everyday use and they should have no problem using since it comes with a tip and tricks style card.

I have yet to try the mascara as I am still working on finishing up some other mascaras so i will probably review it in future blog posts!

I like how it comes with brushes to apply as lets face it not everyone has a bazillion brushes!

Its great for traveling as I can throw in the whole kit and go since i have everything i need to make a simple look

It also comes with a mirror its handy for touch ups.

The only down side is that Benefit packaging for their kits are usually bulky.

Other than that its a nice kit and for the price I got it for I could not pass it up!

Where to get: Benefit counters at Myers (not sure if David Jones have)

Price : Got if on offer for $36 but it was originally $56

What do you think of the kit??

Have you tried anything from Benefit??

Make Up Review: Essence Home Sweet Home

Heya!

So i was at Target the other day and i stumble upon Essence limited edition collection called Home Sweet Home.

So its been a while since an essence collection caught my attention and if i like the collection i go CRAZY and grab more than planed!

The whole Home Sweet Home theme is based on curling up in the couch in your warm woollies with a mug of hot chocolate on a cold winters day.

That to me is my ideal "winter cozy day" not home sweet home day as I think of my home country Malaysia and coconut water and home cook meal at home with my family as well as my "Home Sweet Home" weather is the humidity climate back home ( Lolz just a random note btw).

Anyway grab a mug of Hot Chocolate with Extra Marshmallows as I review the items I got from the collection ;)

So I got 4 items from the collection that is a blush, an eyeshadow and 2 lip sticks!

The packaging of this products are cute! One of the most attractive packaging from essence I have seen in a while with the whole knitted sweater print on the eye shadows and blushes.

1) Soft Touch Blush in 01 Knits For Chicks

First thing I got is a soft touch blush in 01 Knit for Chicks ( interesting name ;p)

I love the Nordic Knit sweater pattern in the blush which the print looks deep.

I picked this up as I have been needing a pink blush ( i only owe 2 blushed but in "fun colours") so I thought this will be very nice for everyday use.

The collection does have another blush in orange but I just went for the basic.

One thing I love about essence have to be the pigmentation of their products! You only need a light hand when applying your blush!

You can wear the pink or berry on its own or swirl the pink and the berry together.

2) Mono Eyeshadow in 01 Happy Couching

The eyeshadow that I got is in 01 Happy Couching which btw Couching is a knitting/embroidery technique (according to google search Lolz)

The chocolate brown colour has slight shimmers

It's very pigmented! Just looking at it reminds me of hot chocolate ;3

There were two other colours but i didnt really think i will use it as much as the brown.

This collection came with 2 lipsticks which I got both.

I love essence lip sticks but I only get them when they are limited edition or else my makeup collection will be chocked up with lip products. What's more I prefer their stay with me long lasting lip glosses.

The lip sticks are very pigmented and creamy and I surprisingly don't own red lip sticks!

They glide on smoothly and dry matt like all the essence lipsticks.

Surprisingly they have a slight berry scent which non my essence lipsticks have but I guess they added the berry scent to suit the collection. If you enjoy the gummy fruity scent that essence lip glosses usually have then you will enjoy the lipsticks.

The only downside of the lipsticks is that I find them bit drying so I suggest to wear a bit of lip balm before applying the lipstick.

3) Long Lasting Lipstick 01 Red-y To Relax

If I were to describe this shade this will be "the perfect red lip" lipstick shade (Taylor Swift Red Lips Anyone??? :P)

04) Long Lasting Lipstick in 02 Berry Me Home

Like the name its a deep berry red shade which I find it perfect for the coming autumn/winter months

The essence stand at Target

Price:
Blush: $5.50
Eyeshadow: $3.50
Lipsticks :  $4.50

Where to get : Target Aus

Overview:
With this Home Sweet Home theme it sure came out at the right time as the shades are especially great for the fall/winter months which is what Australia  is transitioning to.

Of all of the stuff that i picked up i have to say that the lip sticks are the ones i love.

This is one of my favorite trend edition from Essence so far!

Got anything from the trend edition???

What does home sweet home mean to you???
